The Data Situation Solved

Day 35 of Year 26

…and day 33, and day 34

As I start moving around outside of Old Town, I notice how quickly my days can escape me. I must plan my uploads more efficiently.

Since departing Amsterdam I have not done a good job maintaining contact with my Canadian and Dutch friends. Actually, anyone outside of Old Town Krakow – I completely fell off.

I originally planned on going the no data, no sim card route and just living in the moment. I thought I would crush wifi and still keep my regular conversations going. However, I quickly realized that was not going to happen and I would need a sim card. I tried to go back online with a new sim in my iPhone.

The thing is, I found out my phone was locked (thank you Rogers, ihu). So, it was back to my original plan of off the grid.

As a result, most of the time I was unavailable, and even when I had wifi, the quality was not good enough to have phone calls. Trying to have a cohesive conversation proved to be impossible. A bunch of, ‘whats’, and, ‘can you hear mes’. Thats that stuff I don’t like.

My parents gave me shit for my lapse of communication, which ultimately brought me to the solution I should have came to weeks ago (blame it on the white Russians).

A portable, unlocked wifi box.

This solves all of my data related problems.

Also, it is incredibly inexpensive to buy data sim cards here. How inexpensive? 20 zl for 5 gb. that converts to approx. €4,50.

The best thing is, when I travel into another country, I can swap sim cards. Rinse & repeat.

I feel better about my data situation now. No more ghosting or responding a few days late.

Also, no more getting lost.

Anyway, I am back online. Holla at me ;).
